We are fundraising to secure our future
Founded in 2009 our organization has provided transformational service to youth in and around Atlanta, GA. Beginning by offering used dresses for Prom in exchange for a day of community service we blossomed into so much more. By our 3rd year in service we began piloting weekly workshops to teach girls leadership skills, life-skills, and help them develop their social-emotional wellbeing. Now, we're offering year-round programming which includes free therapy from a certified therapist, life-long mentorship, and scholarships BEYOND high school graduation.
We're truly a community based organization relying on you for the support we needed to pay 1 fulltime staff member for several years. From 2009 to 2017 we were funded solely by gifts from community members like you and small grants from local foundations to kick-off our scholarship program. From 2017-2019 we partnered with Raksha Inc. to cover the costs of programming, 1 full-time staff member (Bee, Executive Director) and 2 part-time staff members (Mileydy, Program Director) & Certified Yoga Instructor, (Sonali.) In 2020 that grant was NOT renewed due to the COVID-19 pandemic impacting Raksha's national partner.
But we're STILL here and that's because of you. In 2020 we asked for $1,000.00 to get a laptop for our Program Director Mileydy Villegas and you showed up! In weeks we had the resources we needed to cover that cost for her and she's used that device to grow her family business, she started 2 new businesses, and continued to volunteer with us!
Now, we need your help to sustain our growth. We are looking for 100 community members to commit to donating $200.00 each year to cover $20,000 towards the salary of our staff.
We're working with local businesses to match your gift and cover remaining salary and benefits costs.
Being able to provide hardworking women with a background of poverty the stability they need to be leaders in our community is what we've always been about. When we know that we have the support of our community to maintain our staff we can be confident in creating new programs, growing our team and growing our mission.
